REFORMED SK PROPELS DAVSUR YOUTH LEADERS

Digos City, Davao del Sur – The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur, through Davao del Sur – Youth Development Office (DDS-YDO) hails the successful implementation of SK Mandatory Trainings for the entire province. The DDS-YDO extends its congratulations to the DILG-Davao del Sur and its service provider, the Bro. Polycarp Foundation for this momentous accomplishment. Elected SK officials from across the nine municipalities and one component city complete the four-module course work. The activity is as a requisite in assuming their offices. The training is significant not only because the SK Reform Act mandates it. It also raises the quality of SK officials.

The SK Mandatory Trainings serve as an important “introductory” course for the province’s new officials. The program first introduces SK officers to local governance. In addition, the program provides outlines for participatory and results-oriented management. This is accomplished through a series of activities that encourage creativity, service and commitment. The one-day training is designed to capacitate the “fair hope of the motherland” in better managing specific governance issues in their respective communities. Graduates are entitled to receive a certificate of completion specially made for the alumni. 1848 elected officials from the 232 barangays of the province were the course’s target students.

The DILG prohibits absentees from assuming their offices. Those who seek a special re-training schedule must first send a valid excuse letter to the DILG. No exact date is scheduled for the next re-training schedule. The series of trainings were held from May 17 – 25, 2018 at the Cor Jesu College campus.
