1st Malalag Summer Party

Malalag, Davao del Sur – Can the port town of Malalag create its own SarBay or Summer Frolics?

The conveners of the The Association of South Davao Hotels and Accomodations (ASDHA) seem to think so.  The newly formed organization launched its first coordinated tourism project this summer. The 1st Malalag Summer Escapade, a rave and foam party, invited party-goers to a fun time at the Eagle’s Crib Beach Resort last May 21. The Escapade attracted young people looking for a great party to celebrate the municipality’s 54th foundation week.

The Summer Escapade is organized to encourage and attract visitors to the sights and sounds of Davao del Sur. ASDHA President, Teodorico “Jojo” Dofiles II, organized the event to answer the Department of Tourism’s (DOT)  challenge of creating events to attract visitors. “Despite the existence of good accommodations and locations for visitors to come and stay, the dearth of fun events limit our potential to attract tourism in the province. That is why the DOT organized the ASDHA to converge local enterprises to improve our services and create a mutually beneficial partnership.”, said Mr. Dofiles . “It is hoped that through events such as the Summer Escapade, we can attract more visitors even those outside Mindanao to come and enjoy the venues that Davao del Sur has to offer.”, added the General Manager for Avenue One Hotel in Digos.

The successfully launched beach party concluded with a splash at the beach. ASDHA looks forward to building the Malalag Escapade brand with the support of the DOT and other partners. The coalition of allied industries hope to continue building up its marketing on similar events in the future.

The organizers would like to thank the following organizations who made the event successful: DOT-Region XI, LGU Malalag, Avenue One Hotel of Digos, Emperador Distillers, SMIRNOFF Mule, Pepsi Cola, Natures Spring, and the Malalag Port Authority of Davao del Sur.

Joining the 1st Malalag Summer Escapade Party are Gen. Egay Baguio, SPB 2nd District Lanier Cadungog, Mrs. Earl Ceniza owner of Eagle’s crib and Mrs. Baby Baguio.
